Re: Boat Name Needed!

I see a lot of Greekyness so far, so here's another one.

Ambrosia (Greek: ἀμβροσία) is sometimes the food, sometimes the drink, of the Greek gods, often depicted as conferring ageless immortality upon whomever consumes it.[1] It was brought to the gods in Olympus by doves,[2] so it may have been thought of in the Homeric tradition as a kind of divine exhalation of the Earth.

Re: Boat Name Needed!

I like "Pegasus" for a trimaran. Horses are beautiful, and have two wings like the trimaran.
We just recently bought a tri also, and are trying to think of a name. I wanted Pegasus but hubby doesn't like. He likes "Horse Feathers".

Re: Boat Name Needed!

How about Freyja or Freya (both pronounced Freya). Norse Warrior Goddess - type name.

It has lots of history - means "the Lady" Queen of all things sensual, and patron of fallen soldiers. Part of the legend is that she walked amongst the fallen on battlefields and took the most valiant as her lovers. She also invited their wives.

When Freya and the Valkyries rode forth on their missions, their armor caused the eerily beautiful flickering light we call the Aurora Borealis.

With today’s economy I think “Seabiscuit” would be an inspirational name

Finally got a name for the boat!

Hi,

finally decided about her new name:

"Aquaris"

It's close to Aquarius, which I liked a lot, stands for a mystical planet of sea, and originates from a reading accident ;-) my mum read Aquarius the wrong way.

Instantly we liked that better and it sounds a bit like the sister of Aquarius. Which fits too.

For more see here:

Cheerio,

Re: Boat Name Needed!

honestly, I think that trimarans are about as close to owning a space-faring vessel as a man can reasonably come in this age, and that the name should reflect that.

(from the captain of the S/V TIE Fighter... )

Re: Boat Name Needed !

I am currently looking to name a boat, and the best ones I have come up with are more of a funny name type.

With my name being Evan, friends have suggested Evan-keel (close to even-keel) or just simply "after you" so in a conversation people are shocked i named a boat after them, until i further explain.

I am still undecided on the list I have of possible names.

A funny name is disrespectful of a boat. I would never seriously consider naming mine something like "Old Coot."
