I cut my teeth on beach cats, boats that like it best with one hull just flying on a close reach. That is my subconscious image of "going well" and a boat that is heeled over looks wrong. I can sail both and know the difference, but my first love is a stiff boat. It is imprinted, that's all, and I understand that.

Form follows function on cat. I don't expect classic beauty; I love a design that the engineer in me sees as sound.

"Beautiful", to me, has lots of wood in it and I like it best when some other person has to slave over it.

Specialists in human behavior and perception say that we are conditioned thru a number of subliminal triggers to judge things as being beautiful or ugly.

Some of these judgments as in finding an attractive mate are even believed by some experts to be inherited as part of our evolution.

No comment on that but I think we are at the stage with the development of “yacht” catamarans, where we are still judging by old school Mono standards and have not developed a universal multi beauty sense.

Just think? ... if a new race of humans were discovered where the women had 3 breasts.

It would take an adjustment in our psyche to find that beautiful…. (with thanks to Gunter Gras )
