Biaxial Basalt sleeves from Soller Composites

http://composites.sollerpaddles.com,carbon-fiber,carbon,fiber,sleeve,fabric

They make them in sizes suitable for small masts & shafts etc. I'm considering using some to build our stern tube etc.

Hello Seeya ja dat is natuurlijk mogelijk met een ook koekje erbij. No I do not think the Basalt is a good substitute for replacing carbon fiber in a mast because of its elastic modulus. and yes we also produce ( will produce ) green Motion for monohulls
See attachement.
On the fatigue site we have done our homework and both carbon and Glass break faster than Basalt fiber it can take a lot of stress.

The cost for a 50 hp replacement would be with a 15 Kw electric MOTOGEN ( we call it this because it bot propels and regenerates )would be around 19.000 euro ex generator but including everything else including prop batteries controller plug and play wiring etc etc
