Awlgrip Paint Job for 35' Cat

Anyone have any estimates as to what an Awlgrip paint job would cost for a 35' cat. That would be for hauling, stripping deck gear, prep and paint, rebedding deck gear, bottom paint, and relaunch. Just looking for ballpark figures...

A Lot!!! the Paint is $350+ a gallon and there is a huge amount of prep work to be done before you paint- each boat s cost would be different because of the prep work involved-fixing all the little nicks and scrapes and little hairline cracks-you could buy a new car for the cost and then some- If its done right could easly be $25-30k or more-

My last boat (34 feet) was repainted before I bought her. The owner spent $20k USD. This was for both hull and deck. It was also back in 2000.

most yards charge paint by the foot (which is total crap) instead of the hour.

in the bay area you can expect 150-350 a foot PLUS the hourly yard rate for any excessive prep work.

alwgrip is certainly on the higher end of the price range.

roll and tip is not that difficult as long as you take your time with the prep and so slow while painting.

Re: Awlgrip Paint Job for 35' Cat

I roll & tipped my hulls in 05. It probably cost me more in tape, brushes, sand paper, and scaffolding than all other materials. I used less than half a gln of paint. Although I was painting red over red. It took me a week with a friend helping apply the paint. It took 5 days if memory serves me correctly. He rolled, and I tipped. Materials were about $500.00, but I forget the cost of scaffolding. Imagine was in the yard for a month, so the daily rate wasn't too bad.........i2f
