Re: Australia. Insurance when you are NOT in a marina?

I renewed with Panaenius. Named storm provisions, which now appear to be common, but otherwise no issues. Suggest you check them out. Price competitive with Club Marine, but overall a better deal in my estimation. No problem with moorings etc.,

Re: Australia. Insurance when you are NOT in a marina?

Just got my rough online Pantaenius quote $220k. $2100 on a swing mooring. Depreciated replacement costs. Lots of clauses on named storms. IE wont pay unless many conditions are met, and the premium will be 25% of the insured value of the boat if the conditions are met.

That is cheap insurance, but not the best coverage. Lets see what Multihull Central can broker me a deal for.

Has anybody taken a look at Nautilus Marine. We are insured with them & our Lagoon 380 is berthed in Innisfail, North Queensland.

Well we thought they where great until we made a claim got the go ahead to do the works only to be told you pay for it all and then we will see if we will pay for it, there is a catch in this wear and tear , we caught a rope with our prop , bent prop broke coupling from prop to engine broke engine mounts everything out of alignment. Engine mounts come under wear and tear, we have quotes from 12,000 to 15,000 have found a mechanic that is helping with the tec stuff and getting the parts we need with me doing the work. We where unwilling to continue with the claim the quotes where from the two legged sharks just to do the engine mounts the quotes where around 4000 to 5000 I did for 1200 and our mechanic thinks the prop might not be bent , we hope it's not. We pay 2750 per year and for the insurance with no guarantee they will help you when you need them.

Re: Australia. Insurance when you are NOT in a marina?

Which companies use Northern Reef? That Williams mob? Yeah no thanks. Everyone knows you just use them as a bureaucratic loophole to get into marinas etc if you own ferro boat etc.

Just google Northern Reef Insurance problems and get an eyefull. I'm surprised they are still in business.
