I get why they are compared but they really are completely different boats for different purposes. Granted, I've not been on a Gunboat in a while but when I see some of the details I kind of cringe. For instance, no cleats on deck, just those O ring things. Again, very beautiful boat and I'd love to sail on one but the gunboat seems more like a boat for a professional crew.

I find the new crop very interesting. I love innovation and see a lot of that in the new designs. Having now had a Chris White for over a year I wonder how all the little decisions about moving this cabinet 1 inch this way and the floor board down one inch that way get's made on a Gunboat when the design so radically changes every couple of years? I'm the kind of guys who constantly says, I wonder if it would have been better this way or that. When I think about things I would change on my A57, I'm almost stumped.

Having said that, Peter has a gift for creating stunning boats and knows how to create excitement.
Don't know about the reliability, however, for safety purposes, I don't see any distinct plus on CW's side.

As for modifying the designs, I agree, sometimes things do get better with constant minor tweaks instead of radical designs from scratch. And Porsche 911 is the living proof of this. However, when you check the GB60's design -or any other non-M&M GB's, the cabin spaces are HUGE. Now you can sleep in a perfectly normal bed instead of a slot that you slide in. That's something that can be achieved with a brand new design only.

Old GB's are really on the "boy racer" class, I agree, however, the new ones provide decent living quarters, which they needed from the beginning.

Went to the Miami boat show just to see the gunboat. They stopped people from boarding because they wanted to leave early.. Well there are other boats out there, built as well and a few dollars cheaper. I continue my search after crossing the GB off my list. Where will they be when and if something goes wrong? Just saying

Atlantic 57 or Gunboat 48. Halle Berry or Cameron Diaz.

One may or may not be better, but either is fine by me, thanks very much.

Re: Atlantic 57 vs Gunboat 48

Capttman, we were grateful to be able to get a Gunboat to the Miami Show. Our boats are used a lot by their owners, and that show is in the heart of the Caribbean Season. The owner of Panthera was gracious enough to allow his Gunboat to be at the show, but under the strict condition of it leaving a day early so they could race in the Heineken St Maarten Regatta. They barely made the regatta. We reminded our entire prospect list several times that Panthera would need to skip the final day of the show. Anyone that knows Gunboat, will also know that to avoid the long lines to board them at shows, you should make an appointment so you can skip the line, and we can give you extra attention. If you had contacted us prior, as most prospects do, we could have forewarned you about the Panthera's schedule. Sorry you missed out on seeing her.

We have a gorgeous waterfront production yard in Wanchese NC. We will be there many years. Feel free to stop by and get a tour. Good luck with your search. While it sounds like a big leap, we have converted one Roberts steel hulled owner into becoming a Gunboat owner. We will send a Gunboat belt to whomever is first to guess which Gunboat is owned by a former Roberts owner. Hint: it is not white.

FSMike, send me an email with your address. I will send you a GUNBOAT belt!

You must know the owner? That is not generally a known fact.

Thanks Peter -

Don't know the owner, but when you posed the question my first thought was
"Phaedo's damn sure not white."

Sending you a PM with my info.
Thanks again, and I'll keep buying lottery tickets.
