I have a Chris White Atlantic 46 built in 93 that I bought a couple of years ago. (The former owner built one of Chris' Atlantic 57 designs.) Brought it up to Hatteras two weeks ago from Exuma and in 25 to 30 kts of wind
(gusts to 35), we had the speedo reading a steady 12 to 14 with at least one sustained burst of 17.5 all while triple reefed. We could have gone faster but I was more interested in slowing the boat down given the sea conditions. The boat handled some pretty rough seas beautifully. The boat has a rotating airfoil mast
that I would just as soon get rid of. Just something else to trim and I suspect that more often than not it is not properly set and is stalling.
