Any Rumours Of Manta Starting Back Up?

Just wondering if anyone has heard any rumors of Manta getting up and going again.Would love to see a great boat like that to be producing again.

Last I saw the factory doors were closed and offices emptied out.

I've heard rumors also... that the ex-Legal dept head had ownership of the molds and was trying to find investors to restart. Also heard that the molds are near the end of their useful life and replacement would be cost-prohibitive in light of the hulls now available out of Thailand.

Don't think this is likely to go anywhere in this economy.

I spoke with someone claiming to be a Manta rep at the Miami boat show in February. The impression I got was that the company was dead, unless orders "enough" came in to revive it. Given the economy, I'll hazard a guess that there weren't "enough" orders.

Having said that, its my understanding that Manta has died and been revived at least a couple times already. Time will tell if this last death is really permanent or not.

I see on the listing for boats attending the 2010 Miami boat show Manta is listed!
