Another Mystery Tri

This folding 26' tri is for sale in San Diego. I haven't seen a folding system like this before. It was built in 1966! What is it?

Re: Another Mystery Tri

I never saw a Telstar folded and you are right about the similarity.
However this one has a date of 1966 and Wiki says Tony Smith built the first "solid" one in 1969. Maybe the date in the ad is wrong.

Re: Another Mystery Tri

I think they built 7-8 of the Telstar 35. One has been for sale in Germany for a while, very roomy.

They lost the molds for the 26 in a factory fire. When they relocated they used the old Aristocat molds to start Gemini cat production in the states. I liked the new Telstar 28 tri but apparently there wasn't enough market to keep it in production.

Re: Another Mystery Tri

Maybe they assembled a couple Telstar kits/bare hulls? To many that would be "building'.

Re: Another Mystery Tri

That looks to be in excellent order for a '66 build.

Would love to take a voyage on that vessel, if those pictures were current... 😁
