Adding Bowsprit to Production Cat

Has anyone added a bowsprit to a production cat (Lagoon 380, Leopard 40)?

Have seen many Lagoons with bowsprit for screecher, but not as many Leopards.

Cost/effort/issues would be great to understand.

Re: Adding Bowsprit to Production Cat

Done on Catanas with some frequency. IIRC, Charlie Ogletree described how he set up his 381 with a sprit, on the CatanaCats Yahoo list.

You'll have to join the list and do a search, though

Re: Adding Bowsprit to Production Cat

Forespar offers a kit for that which includes the pole and a fitting for the beam end which I used to add a sprit to my Catana.

Sail Multi Hull Bow Sprit Kit

You still have to work out the whisker stays. You will want to make sure your cross-beam can take the compression load.

Mark.
