Re: Abandoned Catalac 10m
It is the one that was dismasted in the Gulf. It may not be for sale afterall. Apparently the owner has the best intention to get it up and running again, but lives a long way away.

Re: Abandoned Catalac 10m
It is apparently the Catalac 10m that was sold in Panama City FL in 2008. Does anyone remember what the asking price was? Apparently it was quite low priced and since then has become dismasted.

Re: Abandoned Catalac 10m
It must have been cheap, since I had a passing interest.

A Catalac 10M is one of the best cruising catamarans ever built and seldom come on the market.
The boat is not abandoned. The owner of this particular boat had hired a delivery crew to inspect and sail the boat to her new home. Apparently they had little experience with boat inspections and deliveries. What happened was they were caught in a blow and the chain plates let go. The rig was lost over the side and there was considerable damage to the cabin top. I was consulted at the time, and have photos of the damaged area.
If interested, look on my website to see how the chain plates are secured on a Catalac. They are welded steel and a maintenance item.
Lastly, I would like to ask .... in what world does replacing the rig make a $85K boat into a $10K boat?

Indeed, my friend thought £10k, but note this is sterling. However, when you learn one engine is in the cockpit and the other in an unknown condition, that all furnishings will need replacing and there may be debts to clear before it can move, so £10k may not be that far out for something requiring a complete rebuild.

I moved to Vancouver Island and purchased the boat in 2018 and have restored it inside and out. It is a pleasure to sail

We looked at her in July of 2018. We passed because of the work needed. I'm glad to hear someone was able to dedicate the time and effort to bring her back to life. There was so much potential.
Congrats!

Now come on, we really need some photos and give you the opportunity to show off all that work.

These are better sailers than their smaller sisters and the beam ratios more favourable... if you can grab it you'll have a good strong boat...

Maybe in tip top Bristol condition.
We bought one in Spain about 8yrs ago and kept it for 4 yrs.
It was in serviceable but not Bristol condition. We bought for $25k and sold for $22k.
I would expect with the rig down and potentially significant engine issues, $5-10k would be more realistic. If the engines are really in bad shape, probably a "take it off your hands" for free kind of scenario.
