I am now the very proud owner of the Catana 40 in Hawaii.
I am very, very pleased with it and it's sailing performance ..... especially up-wind.
Downwind she flies ..... and with those flaired bows there is a lot of reserve buoyancy against pitch-poling and pitching.
As for value ...... This Catana is better than any FP or St Francis for construction, sailing ability, and general quality. It's a different beast entirely. How would I
price that with more modern Catana's 410's being in excess of $300,000?
The lack of
headroom in accessing the
hull accommodation has taken a bit of getting use to, but I seriously dont notice it anymore.
The only boat I might swap it for would be an
Outremer.
We're now heading for
Canada and then down to
Mexico, with NZ planned for next season.
Cheers
