They are both really nice boats. I really like the forward visibilty of the 48ft FP Salina.
Do not really care for the 50ft Admiral Owners Version saloon.

The Admiral looks fully loaded for a lesser price.
And looks as she has been cared for.
Unless the pictures are 5 year old that is.

Wow! That Admiral looks like a lot of boat for ~300k.

I was aboard this Admiral briefly about 9 months ago. She looked very clean.

FP are still in business, Admiral not so much, that may be important to you.

Hi, Yes, I see that about Admiral but not sure how that would affect us.

Ideas? It wouldn't still be under warranty, i'd presume.

Weight, Weight, Weight. The comparisons of are interesting Multihull Dynamics, Inc. - Standard Comparison Step 2

but two things would be important to me for sure, what each weighs and their marketability for resale when the time came. I would definitely have any boat I surveyed weighed and rerun the numbers on the Custom Eval tool Multihull Dynamics, Inc. - Home making it part of the purchase agreement.

Have not seen the FP but have seen the Admiral and the workmanship is pretty low. Not to mention they did not make many of them before going out of business.

The admiral is a lot of boat for the money, resale is important but how much lower can a 50' cat in good condition go? The bridge deck clearance is not great though. Sometimes a company being out of business does not affect the resale values, look at Manta. Do not expect the quality of a privilege for instance but you are comparing it to an FP so I says it compares fine.

Thanks.
I believe the FP rudder is forward of the sail drive making maneuverability iffy under certain circumstances. Also, from what I've seen the fit and finish in an Admiral boat is much better than an FP. Keep in mind that South African boat designs seem to hold up very well over time as these boats were designed for water sailing">blue water sailing. FPs were designed to be put into charter.

Keep doing your homework...

Not according to this drawing from FP's website.

My mistake. I was surprised to see this drawing. The FP Lavezzi 40, Lipari 41, and the Orana 44 all have the prop behind the rudder. This is the new FP guidelines as they move the engines as far back in the boat as possible to increase interior room.

The Charter market rules over boat design...
