42' Edel Helios

Any owners or charterers experience, comments, etc - on layout, sailing capabilities, etc?
Noticed dagger boards + tiller with slightly outboard helm seat on one photo I saw.
Thanks in advance

Send a message via Skype™ to xxuxx
It has a small cockpit, if that is important to you

If I had the cash I'd be all over it. I was really pleasd to see a cruising cat with tiller steering!!

Thanks

thanks for the feedback gang
x - yeah, it could use a better cockpit layout
S - tiller would be cool - as prior Cat experiences give very little if any feel thru wheel
D - yeah, I've looked at the listing which triggered my thread - why do so many european / french carib YW listings have so few photos.... usually less than 1/2 doz? Just something that seems common for too many brokers operating in those areas.
5 photos total is this case including what appears to be a stock mfg photo of the guy holding the tiller gazing out.

f - saw that today on their site - "on screen" it looks interesting & slick with wheel or tiller

The 38 current model looks interesting too especially the sharp bows

Also saw another YW posting with a few more pics although the net effect was not much better

On the one we "test drove" after the 2004 boat show">Annapolis Boat Show:
  • Tillers give more feel, but the seat will quickly tire you as you are forced to sit at a 45* angle to the bow, plus it's exposed
  • Side decks are not very roomy and have a significant curve resulting in unsecure footing all the way out to the bow
  • Main halyard is on the mast, so reefing is done outside
  • Berths are snug - both good and bad!
  • Boat is fairly quick (but not as fast as our Maine Cat)
  • Maintenance on rubber bow bumpers?

Fair Winds,
Mike
