108' Ex-Racer for Sale

I thought I'd post this as a lighter note because you know how some of these threads can get so testy. Anyway, this is a 108' Maxicat built for racing and now "lightly" converted to cruising. You racing buffs will recognize it as the ex Orange and Gitana 13 etc. boat. This is one badass boat. She did Frisco to Yokohama in 11 days which is still a record. If you have to get somewhere in a hurry then this is the ride for you if you got 2,950,000 euros. It's not mine like I f#*king wish so that's why I didn't post it in classifieds. Do you need a drool bib? BOB

I can only imagine how much fun it would be to cruise in that sled. When you can average 400 or 500 mile days it opens up a whole lot of ocean as your playground.

Wow! I wonder what they mean by "a minimum crew". Eight? I'm not sure I'd want to shorten sail in a squall with just the admiral on board. But I'd sure love to go for a ride.

She's been raced the equivalent of 4 times around the world without flipping. With that record, I'd say she's a pretty stable platform.

Even upside down you might get 200 miles a day if you angle the rudders correctly

Only someone with tons of money to burn would even consider buying this toy. And then they would need to have their head examined.

Re: 108' Ex-Racer for Sale

With the Americas Cup race coming to California I'm sure someone or a sailing club will buy it just for kicks.

Re: 108' Ex-Racer for Sale

OTOH, you could sail this thing @ 10-15 and not even really be trying. So for a cruiser it'd be pretty cool. (til you had to pay for a slip for that LWL

Re: 108' Ex-Racer for Sale

For 3 mill it seems a little spartan. There's probably 4,000 sq. feet of sail which is going to develop some sore muscles and be directy proportional to the need for a nice bar, some comfy cushions and a good tub.
