Great idea. Thanks!
I liveaboard and sail a Columbia 50 out of Fort Lauderdale, FL.
Absolutely love the older glass boats. Nice and fast, yet comfortable traditional design. She takes wave very well. So far the perfect boat for me except she is a little difficult to single hand. Especially while docking with no bow thruster. But I just can't ruin that nice smooth hull by adding a thruster. *sigh*

My boat is a 1982 Creekmore 27'. They were semi-custom built right here in Florida by a Father & son team. One of the strangest arrangements you will see, cutter rigged ... but ... with a shoal draft (4,1/2 foot) fin keel, and spade rudder. 27'LOA, but with a 12' beam. Will post pictures on my upcoming website.

We have a Bruce Roberts 44' steel hull, Ketch. We just brought her up here from Florida to Wisconsin. Crossed the Gulf Of Mexico, 1st time, to Mobile Alabama, up the TomBigBee to Lake Michigan. Now the work begins. She was home built in Peoria, IL, but never finished. Very strong stiff hull, corton steel. Handles the waves very well, comfortable ride. Crossed the Gulf in July and had alot of bad skwalls. One right after another. Then a tropical storm but no hurricane. The boat was built to go to the north atlantic. In 2 years, if all goes well, we are headed to Iceland. Have no pictures yet to post.

Ours is an Alberg 30 in Jacksonville, Florida. Ariel is teaching us how to sail right now. In a few years we are planning on a retirement of sailing around the Caribbean.

OK,

I have the baby of the group, a US21. I moved down from a 27' boat since I am landlocked. I also sail on my brothers Pearson 385.

Here is a pic of my racer/cruiser. Surprisingly, I can easily spend 2 weeks on her and tow her anywhere I want to sail. If you want to see her on the trailer, specs etc. Here is a URL of my photo base site.--the ballast statement is wrong--the keel is 400lbs not 200 lbs. They changed it after test sailing but forgot to update the info on the sheets.

US 21

I used to have the boat in the brochure with the blue cushions. It floated higher than another one we purchased. I was a dealer at the time. I added weight to my keel but did not weigh it. Towed it with my 1972 Volvo, been to Lake Chelan in WA and the West coast of Vancouver Island.

Nice to hear

Not a lot people are familiar with them. Perhaps they were a bit ahead of their time. They are very similar to the newer Ultimate 20's. My brother and I owned a US27 together on Erie before he transfered to South Carolina. It was also a very nice boat.

US Yachts

I sold the 21 22 25 27 and 30 here in Kelowna BC. The 21 was built just before they quit the sailboat business. I like the 21 because it is light and stiff with the cored hull. The 22 is a nice little boat, the 25 sails well locally same as the 27 and 30. I do not like the 27 and 30 for rough weather because of the pinched ends from the IOR influence but overall they sail fine and none of the boats have had any major problems. The keel on the 25 can flex the hull but again there have been no structural problems. My 21 went to Vancouver Island where the new owner hit a rock and sheered the keel off. They retrieved it and put it back together. The other 21 is still at our local yacht club and races with the white sails fleet. BC Mike C

Hello there,

We have a J/35. Believe it or not, It was originally purchased to be a liveabord crusier.

Its not been cruised for about.. Err, 11 years now. {Sigh} You can read the detailed story on why here.. Refitting No Tomorrows

So I guess I'll be pro, light displacment, monohull, fin keel & spade rudder, on all the "discussions". :-)
