Young Sun 50

There is a charter boat here in Key West that I often admire.
I finally found out that it is a Young Sun 50.
I never heard of this make of sailboat and as usual my curiosity had me running home to my computer.

Seems that the 35 and 43 footers get great attention.

Or am I getting the wrong impression?

Is it another "leaky teaky"?

Our brokerage just sold a 1979 Young Sun 35. Taiwan built, Perry design as far as I know. Leaky Teaky? We are in Portland Oregon and there a bit of rain and humidity here, there were not leaks that we could find. That's just one boat. Real sweet joinery below!

The Young Sun 35 IS NOT a Perry design and never was. They tried to promote it as one of my boats but I have no idea where that boat came from. Over the years I have come to adopt it as a step child but it is not my design.

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. It is a nice looking boat.

How about Angus Primrose for the design of the 25 and Ron Amy for the 50? Lovely boats in any event. Is it the Namaste that is the bota in Key West? Sail Key West, FL on a Luxurious 50' Sailboat

Holy Cow, thanks for the response! Good thing I said "as far as I know". Now I know the truth and I will rectify that in the listing.

That should have read Angus for the 35! This is how the rumours start

Yes, the Namaste is the boat that started my curiosity.

I can't believe Angus Primrose did the 35. No way.

Is the 43 and 35 models most popular?

Is there an undisputed flagship?

You're most likely right. I can't find where I came across the bit that made that suggestion; it's likely buried in all the sites suggesting that you designed it, including a marvelous bit of misdirection in a Young Sun brochure that suggests, "the Young Sun 35 combines the elegance of a Robert Perry design with the interior elegance demanded by today's cruising sailor". Here is a link to the brochure: http://www.youngsunowners.org/pdf/Yo...20Brochure.pdf. I suppose if Primrose had designed it they might not have felt a need to imply you did, though you could argue they don't actually say you did!

I don't much care for companies with poor integrity.

Especially restaurants!
