Yorktown?

I am just curious here: I have seen a number of Yorktown sailboats (mainly 41') for sale. I know absolutely nothing about them. Are they a good strong boat for coastal cruising? What was the quality when they were made?
Can anyone tell me more about these?
Gord?

I am at the point now where our Cal 29 is pretty much finished and I will be looking to sell it or trade up if possible. I would like to find a 40' Tri in good condition somewhere, but still undecided as to what to do in the end. Likely, it will take some time to sell the Cal anyway so there is no hurry.
Thanks

I remember way back when first starting the boat search being pulled to them b/c of the size for price thing. What I remember learning was that many were kits or owner finished, and that while you run across owners who like them, they aren't particularly thought of as "well built" boats by folks who work on them. There is something, too, about the keel that is a design flaw --- I can't recall, but I remember once researching them, walking away and not looking back. (I say this knowing that there are probably some owners/lovers of the boat here, but know that it is one of the few designs that I categorically took off the list as an option in initial research stage.

Archive search reveals:

Thanks Windsaloft - I have wondered because as you mentioned - the price for the size seems quite low. But then, I also figure that most of the time, you get what you pay for.
I will also hope to hear more about these boats.
