Yanmar 3GMD Cruising RPM ?

I have an '82 Yanmar 3GMD in good shape for its age...and I'd like to keep it that way. Operationally, I usually cruise it at about 2000 - 2400 rpm and when shutting it down run it for a few minutes at idle, run it up to burn off unused fuel, then pull the shut off (just like the manual says). The manual says little other than it's rated for 22.5 hp @ 3600 rpm and my question is, should my cruising rpm's be 80% of 3600 (2880) or something else?

I have the same engine, same year. You should be fine with those rpm's and 80%. My Clymer Yanmar manual doesn't say either??? I usually cruise at 2600 RPM's. The plate on my engine rates it at 20HP and 3400 rpm. Maybe Hunter put in a low performance model??? LOLOL.

Anything between 2000 and 3000 rpm should be fine. I cruise mine at 2,600.
