I have an '82 Yanmar
3GMD in good shape for its age...and I'd like to keep it that way. Operationally, I usually cruise
it at about 2000 - 2400 rpm
and when shutting it down run it for a few minutes at idle, run it up to burn off unused fuel
, then pull the shut off (just like the manual says). The manual says little other than it's rated for 22.5 hp @ 3600 rpm
and my question is, should my cruising rpm's be 80% of 3600 (2880) or something else?
