Wich Sailboat Is That?

Hi all

I was just walking along the dock and found this...about 45/50 ft, no idea of brand of whatelse, no marks, neither writing on it...Looks like brand new or max 5 years old...

Astre should be the name of the boat...Tryied it but 0 results..

The very particular thing is the cockpit is like L shaped on both the side to have a seating for who is at the wheel (2x)...And a reversed U chromed pipe of quite big dimension in the middle of the cockpit...It doesn't look for the table...

Thanks al
Stefano

Just to know..The U chromed pipe (hand rail) does it works with a table or is just a handrail? Looks too beamy to seat and reach the table...

Kind of looks like a big beamy sailboat with 2 helms, no boom or sails, 2 furlers and bumper thingies on the side.
That's my best guess and I'm sticking to it!

Re: Wich Sailboat Is That?

Uhm... Stefano? There's a nice one of these for sale in Rhode Island for a quarter of a million bux. I think you should just write a cheque :-)

Count on about $25K a year in moorage, maintenance and sinking fund to replace the sails and running rigging.

You'll prolly find that the engine is a forty-horse Volvo. Fuel consumption will be modesty, but the maintenance cost of the engine will be about the same as that of a fleet of, say, six FIAT Topolinos

The "U" shaped job in the middle of the cockpit is just a handrail. On boats like this is isn't safe to pass fore'n'aft in cockpit while under way without having that rail to hold on to. I'm not kidding!

420 on steroids :-0)?

A colleague came to me many years ago, having bought a Soling sight unseen. Now he wanted to make 'er into a cruiser! No sooner said than done. A bit of "C-flex" and some monkey snot, and — presto! — a "Cruising Soling" complete with cuddy cabin, wet bunk and a "white gas" Coleman stove.

The joys of youth :-)!

Sfar as I can read the ensign, you'd need to be careful anyway. Looks like she might be in Danish registry. Might very well be fulla trolls :-)!

Quick and tender are not normally used together referring sailboats. Stiffness equals power in a sailboat and if well designed power, means a fast sailboat.
It does not look a particularly fast sailboat. Slightly less fast than most modern sailboats with the same size, I mean mass production sailboats. It has a very simplified rig and that does not help either.

Can you tell me why you do you think it is tender? The boat is relatively beamy with lots of hull form stability, it had a very considerable draft, almost all the ballast on a bulb and it has a normal B/D ratio for that type of boat with that beam and type of keel so why tender?
