Who is your Favorite Boating Manufacturer

I recently bought a Tayana 58 and love the boat. I was wondering what some other people's favorite boat manufacturers are.

Most of my favorites are long gone and even beautiful boats like Swans are day sailors now compared to years past. I guess a one off aluminum boat would be a nice choice for cruising. The Amel's used to be thought of as old guys boats(when I was a young guy) but the new ones are pretty cool.

Re: Who is your Favorite Boating Manufacturer

It depends on the type of boating you want to do... In my opinion there is no single manufacturer for every application of boating.

With that said I have owned three different Catalina Sailboats, the current one took me on a 9500nm, 3 year cruise through Mexico and Central America and preformed well under varied wind and sea conditions. It was also a great house!

I choose Catalina over other brands because they pack a lot of room into their boats for the money. My current C-470 has over 7 feet of head room in the main cabin. I bought the boat new and loaded it with every factory option, except a watermaker and it was still less than $450K in 2006.

The owners groups are large and very helpful. If I have a problem or am considering a change or upgrade to the boat, I just log on to the C-470 and posse the question, why reinvent the wheel, right?

The Swans even though past their prime will always be beautiful. No longer the bells of the ball maybe but beautiful even in their old age
