Whitby 42 vs Brewer 44

Narrowed down our search for a blue water cruiser to these two options. The Brewer 44 is the later model, big sister of the Whitby 42, and both are scattered worldwide. The kicker is that the Brewer is $100,000 more, on average, and not sure that 2 feet and 5000 lbs is worth the money. Any constructive suggestions welcome.

Your choice but I'd take the Brewer. There are significant differences between the two which range from the sailplan to the keel, not just two feet and 5000 lbs. Check this out.

The whitby is a boat with a cult like following, but is balsa cored below the waterline. I've sailed one, and is a nice boat so long as you like a million and one through hulls.

Comparing the wrong 2 boats. Need to compare the Whitney 42 to the Brewer 42/12.8.

The Brewer 44 is a lot bigger inside.
