Hello all,

I would like to replace my flooring with something that looks like what's in this picture. I have no idea where to go to get it, or if it is a veneer I can laminate on top of the plain boards I have now. I have a lot of experience doing my own laminate work so that is not a big deal.

If anyone could direct me where to find it I would appreciate that.

Thanks!

Google "teak and holly sole".

Boards can be bought from Jamestown, though it's maple instead of holly.

https://www.jamestowndistributors.co...t.do?pid=51938

There are laminate options as well.

Interesting "fake wood" option from Plasteak.

I'm currently helping a friend replace all exterior wood on his 38' sloop with this company's product. Has been a head scratcher but seems to be working out.

Re: Where to buy this kind of flooring

I gave you the wrong info, sorry. The product I just installed on the interior of a 50 ft sports fish was Nautikflor. It has a thin foam backing to it and is waterproof. It goes down like a interlocking pergo floor. 4ft x 6 inch boards about 1/4 inch thick, actually a little thinner I think. Very easy to work with. I actually used the cherry with holley because the interior of this boat was cherry. On the engine hatches and other I ripped solid stock cherry, 1/2" by a 1/16 higher then thickness of the flooring and made a border for he flooring. Glue the flooring down with a premium adhesive and a very thin notched trowel. You can then sand the perimeter of the hatch down to the height of the flooring. Cover the flooring with a 12" spackel knife butted right up against the real stock trim and sand it down. The spackel knife is thick enough that an electric sander cand burn through it, but at the same time thin enough that you get the heights real close. Only thing I didn't like about the product is that if you slide something heavy across it, you can rip the surface. I learned that the hard way sliding a sleep sofa back in the saloon. Metal frame did some damage. Product is really easy to work with. Fine tool, razor and a jig say is all you need. Some skill lol

Loctite Pl premium construction adhesive. Buy, the large cartridges and a large gun. Pump it out then trowel it with a cheap plastic v notch trowel. Your going to throw it out when your d ok be anyway.

Re: Where to buy this kind of flooring

I used PlasTeak, which came out fine. The biggest issue I had was they only sell it in 6’ wide lengths, so if you needed enough to do a 2’x2’ section, you’ll have to buy it in 6’ wide chunks. I called (nice enough people) to see if they had any scrap sections, but apparently they’ve got it down to a science and “scrap” isn’t in their lexicon.

Re: Where to buy this kind of flooring

After much research, I had Plasteak installed inside & out. You can diy. For interiors, go for a light shade with holy, not onyx.

If you diy, be aware that many adhesives sold in the US can cause heart & stroke problems if used in a confined space without heavy ventilation. Many are banned in the EU.

Re: Where to buy this kind of flooring

We installed a T&H sole on our current ketch Emerald. We saved big $$ by ordering the 1/4” vs the 1/2” panels and then laminated it to 1/4” marine ply before installation. We used Resorcinol glue and a pile of sandbags to bond the 1/4” Teak and Holly to the 1/4” ply.

Re: Where to buy this kind of flooring

I have been looking at EVA teck look like flooring with adhesive back. I have not seen the product in person, but it is economical easy to work with, and you have the opportunity to remove it if wanted. This product is available on eBay under EVA Teak flooring, it is available in different widths and lengths.
