Where do I put all that @#$% on a 32' boat??

Recently found this old page we created in our first year of cruising - it details our storage plan (Westsail 32):

Once you figure out all the stuff you need to bring you think it's all over. That is until you have to pack it and then again when you have to find it.

So how many of those whosie whats its did we bring? I know we should have at least 5 left.

And it don't get any better with a larger boat! I had to systematically go through the boat and identify ANYWHERE I could put stuff, assign a designation (so I could refer to it: ie. SSCT2 = Salon Starboard Cabinet Top 2), and then, of course, doing an inventory. Oh .. don't forget to keep up with the inventory. In the cases of consumables (usually food type stuff), they are only in about 8 different locations, and I sorta keep up with it, but it isn't that difficult to re-inventory those areas.

Too much Stuff

Being on a boat is a little like being on holidays, you always take too much stuff.
Except maybe the beer

Fair winds

I tried the inventory thing.....no fun, I prefer to rip the boat apart looking for things. Hate it when I find expired beer though.

I stashed 4 dozen speights in a locker and then forgot it was there. Just kept drinking and adding to the easy to get locker. When I discovered it over a year later, I poured it into a mug and it was fill of scuba divers. I rang the speights 0800 number and they told me it was "all natural ingrediants so should be right". Yeah right!!! (Tui ad that Alan will understand). We drank one but couldn't enjoy it.
I saved it to give to people who come on board without their own supplies (na, I had to dump it )
