Also, the canoe stern sacrifices a lot of interior living space -- you basically give up an aft cabin to have that hull shape, so a lot of people wouldn't like the boat for that reason. And, on the PSC 40, they use the same diesel as on the PSC 37, so motoring is not exciting on the heavier boat.

Anyway, that is the good thing about sailors. Two sailors will rarely agree anything is perfect, or a dream boat, or THE BOAT. Everybody has there own opinion, and your opinion seems perfectly logical and thought out. Fact is I own a Shannon now. See you down in the islands.

Valiant has a website, Valiant Sailboats: The Official Valiant Yachts Manufacturer Website - cruising yachts cruising sailboats, implying they are still in business, though the link to the current newsletter isn't good, and I couldn't find any copyright dates to check how current the page is. Last I heard Valiant was continuing production on a semi-custom basis.

When was motoring on a SAILBOAT ever supposed to be fun, let alone exciting? Am I missing something here?

Valiant is still in business, they just don't have a set amt of boats to produce each year. If u want a new Valiant, they will build it. I've talked to Fred and the factory within the last month. Valiant has great warranty and customer service.

Center-Cockpit Freedom 40. Looks like a Pirate ship but is easy to sail and comfortable to cruise. Would be great for doing charters.

I'd replace the aft-cabin over-head with SS panels polished to a mirror finish... just saying

My "realistic" dreamboat is a Hans Christian 33t. She's the perfect size with a great layout (pullman, private aft cabin, one head) for a my family (wife, 3 daughters) and I. Plus she's bluewater capable, canoe-sterned and salty as they come.
