Re: What's Your Dream Boat ?

I'm a big fan of traditional simplicity, and keeping it small. So...in that size range, I'll say the Cape Dory 36 (now made by Robinhood Marine). I also love the BCC28, and the rest of the Cape George designs.

Ah! Another Cape George fan. They are absolutely gorgeous boats. I urge everyone to check out their website.

Look her up! Methinks the place of carbon is in the stove, yet her deck/cockpit layout is outstanding. This toy is here now hence my sudden gust of interest.

By the pictures, pretty ugly interior though.

b.
Dont know if the interior is ugly or just very modern europen(like Ikea) I dont care for it myself...mine would be a Cheribini sailing yacht...DVC

Winter is coming now to Holland (where she's berthed), and I'll be spending my time doing courses before sailing her over to Jersey in spring with some more experienced people.

Can't wait for this adventure - two more weeks of work and then I'll dive straight in! But I'll take it easy - I won't be overstretching myself. I know what I know and what I don't. Looking forward to learning lots on this board.

Thanks Mexdon, I'm already gathering your remark on the opinions is well founded.

Yacht was surveyed yesterday - surveyor was completely smitten before she got out of the water and couldn't find anything wrong above the waterline. Doesn't happen often. Unfortunately, when hauled ashore we saw some osmosis below the water line. Thankfully my dad is a paint expert with experience in yachts so it will all come right but we still have some accord to make with the current owner as there will be a substantial additional cost. No reason to assume the deal will not go through, though. I'm very glad I bought her just before winter - plenty of time now to sort things out and do courses in warmer climes! And, of course, I will know for certain she'll be good to go for quite some years.

Re: What's Your Dream Boat ?

I think you can dream about any boat especially one you have. Some of you in warmer climates might not understand but mine is aground for the winter. I just dream and read sailing sites wishing for spring to come. I found a boat nothing like I was looking for and developed a love for a boat that I originally thought was less than desirable. I dream about it every day.

As I look around at different boats to decide which I would like to get I've been narrowing down my list.

so far, the one I'd like to get is a Bristol 38.8
