And that's exactly what I am trying to define. I am currently working my way through Beth Leaonard's Voyager's Handbook and am starting—barely—to get a handle on what you get for your money...

I phoned up my local insurance broker and inquired about boat insurance. At first she had no idea what to even tell me, but eventually found the right person to talk to. She was able to provide me a very competitive quote based on the research I have done here. I can't find the exact quote, but it was something like $1800/year on a 170K USD boat.

As to health insurance, same thing. Health insurance is pretty cheap for me as we are all under 40 with no pre-existing health conditions.
