What's it worth?
Hey, helping a friend (not computer literate) that is helping his friend's widow sell her husband's 1996 Island Packet 32. Beautiful boat, ready to go, low hours, meticulously maintained. I showed him some listings that are online but they are all over the board. What's the price range for a very good condition boat like this that will pass any survey? Thanks for any input.

Re: What's it worth?
That depends on a lot of factors, location is one, and desired speed of the sale is another.
If the boat needs to go to avoid slip fees, maintenance costs, etc....but is on a lake in Nevada the price will need to be much lower than in a prime area.

Re: What's it worth?
It's on the Gulf currently in MS, slip fees, etc not an issue. It can easily be sailed anywhere on the Gulf coast, and probably up the East coast but I'd need to confirm that.

A 32 can be trucked fairly easily as well.
You could gauge the asking price from what others are asking. YachtWorld.com has a pretty good search engine. I just searched for "Island Packet 32". Here's the results.

Right around $62,375, as long as she's not trying to get a quick sale

Now that's some CF Expert precision if I ever saw some.

Re: What's it worth?
Instead of trying to guess a price, what you should be doing is helping her to find a good broker to sell the boat for her. The broker will know the local market, and will be able to tell her how to price it for a quick sale, a slow sale, or whatever she wants.

I'd say that is a quick sale price after looking at what's available.. boats 3 to 6 yrs younger are asking near that and in one case almost double.

Re: What's it worth?
Asking prices may not be realistic. A broker should have access to prices similar boats were sold at.
