Re: What kind of boat is this?

Well, if Don says it was multi chine, who am I to dispute (some gentle sarcasm there). Looking at some archived pix of the original, one can see what appear to be very soft chines, and they give a shape not too different from a radiused hull. I think in the water it might be hard to detect the difference, just being alongside. At least, I think that's what happened to me!

Anyhow, when we knew her she was still bloody rough, having been pushed off the beach in Cabo with a bulldozer, and the various dents beaten out with sledges... sorta! But the young guys running her were having a ball, and we enjoyed their company, and being on board such a famous boat. But I would not have relished living on her... agricultural rather than architectural kinda sums it up!

The replicas being built (maybe) for this next silly race should stand up to the Southern Ocean rather better than this years crop of FRP vessels.

Jim

Not me, I wouldn't know a Joshua from an El Toro
BUT it DID occur to me the hard chine may have been submerged rendering it invisible to the unschooled eye!
(some gentle and feigned mordancy of course)

FICHE : 161-BEAUJOLAIS 12.25M ALU

alloy, lifting centerboard board,

Typical jolly French design often well built in professional yards.

Note the one in Panama is shot as 12 m French alloy boats fetch EUR 100k and upwards if maintained properly.

Cheers,
b.

Re: What kind of boat is this?

Looks more like a lapped seam than chine. Perhaps this explains her slack bilge and quite heavy displacement.

Re: What kind of boat is this?

You can only buy it in September when it's green.
