Re: What is it?

On the upper starboard side of the transom, just above where the hull changes colors there is a series of numbers and letters. This is the hull I'd number. If you can get the number, you can do a google search for it, and it will spit out the make, model, and year of the boat.

I can't see the photos all that great on my phone, and there's one showing the hatch/port on the front, which is not standard issue, but besides that I think it could be an Aquarius 21. I have a 23', and there's definitely similarities. Google Aquarius 21, and see if the photos match up with what you're looking at

Re: What is it?

Venture 25 VENTURE 25 sailboat specifications and details on sailboatdata.com

Or MacGregor 25 MACGREGOR 25 sailboat specifications and details on sailboatdata.com

or Venture 222 VENTURE 222 sailboat specifications and details on sailboatdata.com

would be good guesses, best guess would be the 222

Re: What is it?

I am going to see it Sat. in the hopes that it is not as rough as it looks..., but was hoping someone would know what it was before I had a look at it so I would know more of what to look for.

Fwiw , after seeing the pictures on a larger screen, I no longer believe it's an Aquarius... Do let us know, if you find out!

Re: What is it?

i'm with adelie. it's a venture. made by macgregor back in the sixties, seventies, maybe even eighties. was superseded by a more complex version that is still in production today.

i used to think they were only safe to sail in small lakes, until i met a couple of schoolteachers who took their venture florida to bahamas and spent summers there.

Re: What is it?

jeanathon - should have mentioned this. your oday 22 is a far better built boat. the old ventures were poorly made and even more poorly equipped.

Thank you adelie and onestep. I've actually sold my O'day to a friend. He is the one who found this project. I will have a look sat., and report back.

Re: What is it?

A friend who worked in a boat yard and had done many bottom jobs told me he had never seen a blister on a venture!
His theory the hull was so thin the moisture went straight through the hull ha ha ha !

Re: What is it?

Indeed not a blister on her!
Went and had a look. Although she comes with a lot of goodies it is more project than I want or at least would get out of her when done. The saltwater has not been kind to her.
Thank you all for the input.

Yeah, but we all still want to know what type of boat it is!

Re: What is it?

Oops... She is a Venture by MacGregor.
If my friend does not buy it, and you know someone looking for a project. I can give details.
