Westsail and Sister Boats

The look of the Westsail 32 is great! The price seems a tad higher than other boats. I love the tiller idea, big interior and heavier built hull. I'm curious too know of any sister ships or other nice looking, seaworthy boats as this one ( in either GPR or Steel). Or any information about these boats.

Search the Archives for this site, there are some very long and detailed threads on the W32. Actually, on a pound for pound and interior volume, the W32s are cheap. They are not the best boat for daysailing and coastal cruising in lightwind areas but are great boats for long distance cruising and live aboard. I can add the Rafiki 37 and Rafiki 35 (although I have no direct experience with the 35s).

You are quite right I don't know where I was looking at the time (perhaps yatchworld) but many Westsails were sailing for 70k-100k but the link you gave me I see quite a few for around 30k-45k very well price.

Sort of random but I'm not totally familiar with the use of a bowsprit. I've heard good things like added sail area, a place to have your anchor roller, a nice place for a good view and something about adjusting the headsail as it ages... do you know anything about the latter (headsail aging and adjusting by using the bowsprit somehow)?

If I could afford it, it would be without a doubt, the Tashiba 36. I decided on the Westsail 32. IMHO, the best bluewater boat for the money on the market today.

I don't doubt you're right SKG, but if you've got the extra shekels, the Rafiki 37 is a really sweet cruiser (he says, giving his completely unbiased opinion ).
