I'd offer $2800. $1 per blister and their original $300 investment.

These folks spent 3 years fixing blisters on boat that was sunk for 2 years. I looked in the blogs and it looks like they floated it in 2010 or 2011.

I didn't see a blog where they sailed the boat and now they are selling the boat.

Why sell a boat you spent 3 years fixing after only 4 years of use? And why instantly come 1/3 off your asking price of $30k?

Don't get tunnel vision on this boat...

well if the wind is calm a 10hp is more then enough to get you hull speed my boat is 11klbs and a 5hp gets me to hull speed in light winds.

if you plan on powering into seas and wind then buy a power boat. I sail with the wind when I get stuck makes for a longer trip but its a lot safer. many people are not sailors and would rather beat into the weather because they get scared and like old jack said"FIND LAND ANY LAND" but a good heave to will save you a lot of pain and fuel.

but I do use a 8hp and only because it has a longer shaft then the 5hp

I didn't read the blog but if the boat was sunk, I wouldn't give these scammers a dime.

most good sailors sail with the current if you google world sea currents you make your passage based current in a normal wind current a 10hp will get the job done just fine.

That's why people don't use the old Bahamas channel to east
and I never heard of a sailboat sailing up the Mississippi river.

Re: Westsail 28 on ebay

Well this is getting off topic -i just want to know if a heavily blistered boat is structurally sound if properly repaired

Re: Westsail 28 on ebay

I'm not sure if anyone has ever heard of a boat's seaworthyness that was compromised by repaired blisters (osmosis).

A couple of articles you may want to read:

Re: Westsail 28 on ebay

In my mind all those blisters could have thinned the hull out....and imagine it could be more sensitive to impacts, fracture/breach more easily
