Re: Union 36 or Nor'Sea 27

Dmk56,

You might want to look at our web site and/or our YouTube pages. We moved aboard our Nor'Sea in 1996, retired in 04 and sailed out under the Golden Gate Bride, turned left and .......

Greg
By the way, I now also have a Virtual Reality Youtube page that allows you to look in all directions when on our boat.

Yup, it's definitely an experience Laika! I loved the dismal swamp, but could only bear motoring for about four hours a day and then stopped and enjoyed it

Yessir, if it's only about making way it quickly turns into a wrist slashing situation.

But nevermind. Sorry OP

IMHO, a 36+ boat will offer more room if you do decide to liveaboard for extended cruise.

Check out

Creala 36 for sale, 11.89m (39'0"), 1983 | Boatshed Phuket

When I was looking for boats in 2012, this boat was listed for more than USD 100k.

Good luck in your search.

Give the cost of maintenance a good hard think.
The 36 will be at least 3 or 4 times more.

Re: Union 36 or Nor'Sea 27

If your looking for 1. loads of room for storage and living aboard. 2. Bullet proof blue water cruiser w/ oversized rigging, and 3. Not looking for a lightweight racer. the Westsail 28 or 32 is a good choice. I researched for 10 years before buying my first " ballasted " sailboat. I have no regrets buying Eleuthera a Westsail 32. Check out the Westsail Owners Association website. Also interesting is the story of Satori, a Westsail 32 that survived " The Perfect Storm" and sails today. I have no interest in heading out in a gale, but it is comforting to know my craft is capable of surviving one if conditions turn bad. The rest is up to you, and your training . No it's not fast ! But if i wanted to go "fast" I'd buy a boat with two big screaming turbo diesels. And if your willing to invest some "sweat equity", like me, they are very reasonably priced !!!!!! John
