Two lovely raggies.

Hi Gang,

Yesterday, ... 'dock in the bay, wasting time"... I trolled Yachtworld.

Found these 2 lovelies.

The first one from Jongert, Dutch yard, probably the best built cruising yacht in the universe... looks like great value for money.... live aboard = easy. Cruise the world = no rush!

Lots of teak and wood, long keeled shallow draft... Mercedes diesel... could this be Julie's new boat?? :-)

1973 Jongert Jongert 59 trewes Sail Boat For Sale - www.yachtworld.com

The second one needs quite some loving but the base is Hylas. Definitely a project but nonetheless.... what can you say about the engine bay and genset rust, the windlass and the Rube Goldberg davits... some people should not be allowed to own nice boats...

1990 Hylas 51 - REDUCTION!! AMAZING DEAL! Sail Boat For Sale -

Ooops... the "sale pending" popped overnight. Someone recognized its value it seems...

Re: Two lovely raggies.

Well shiver me timbers! Did I see a few cannons jutting out of those port holes??

Thanks for thinking about us, but 59' is a cruise ship! Not quite our cup of tea.

I saw that Hylas saw last month online. We've seen two other Hylas's, one being a 44', the other a 47'. They are reputed to be 'wet' boats, having a low freeboard. That's a little concerning.

I think our boat will ultimately be an English or Scandinavian make, 44-48'. If you see one out there that's a steal, please buy them off with a good bottle of rum until we get there!

Re: Two lovely raggies.

A Jongert is a dream come true for many sailors. They are so tough!! Slow and safe...

I'll keep my eyes open. Look at the Kanter I posted on the J44 link. Another fabulous sail boat.

Just trying to give you an exit motive to leave Chicago!!! LOL!
