Trailerable Coastal Cruisers?

Anybody familiar with the Aloha 27? Might be tough to trailer but it looks like a nice boat with over 6' of headroom.

The Cape Dory 25D is one such boat.

John Vigor lists the 25D in his book "25 Small Boats to take you Anywhere".

There is a 25 D cruising across the Pacific now.

Great boat and at 5200lb can be trailered reasonably

Cape Dory's are fine boats. But the 25D has the head in the v-berth.
I just found an 87 26' with trailer for 16K. With a little cleaning it could be a fine boat.

What's your point, haha. It took me awhile to get over the lack of a vberth. The large saloon that it provides helps console me.

The 26 is a fine boat.

What headroom do you have in the 25D, do the port and starboard berths combine to one big one? Any idea of the headroom in the 26?

The Cape Dory 25D has 5'11'' head room. The starboard settee turns into the double.

The port settee remains a single.

And because there is no v-berth (the head is in that area) the salon is about as large as you'll ever find in a 25 footer.

The 25D's best characteristic is it's sea keeping ability. It'll tailer and still cross oceans.

Have you checked out the Norsea 27. 8 foot beam so no special permits are required. When I do see one for sail many times a trailer is also included. This is a Lyle Hess design capable of taking you anywhere you want to go.
They come in two versions one aft cabin and the other aft cockpit. A boat that should be on your short list.

I was going to suggest this boat as well. I'm not sure how well they sail, but a very nice looking lapstraked double ender that looks like it could handle anything the elements throw at you. I've been aboard an aft cabin version (at dockside, not under sail), and I can tell you they are nicely finished below as well.

I have only seen the norsea online. It is on the short list. It appears the only sleeping arraingment is to drop the dinette in the v-berth? I did not know there were two versions, will look further.
