Hey, this is my first post here sorry if it's been done before.

If Money was no object
if you always sailed by yourself

1. The biggest sailing yacht you would buy?
2. The fastest sailing yacht you would buy?
3. The one that just looks the coolest?


No idea of you guys will like this post, I probably should have spent longer reading other posts (call me mr impatient).

I like my current boat but if someone asked me to switch out to brand spanking new Valiant 42 I'd agree. Valiant Sailboats: The First True Performance Cruiser

After sailing the same hull Rebel, I would agree. For solo or a small team, I would not go bigger than a Valiant 40 or 42. As for the fastest- there are faster ones out there, but I think it is one of the coolest.

I just bought a Pearson Triton so of course it is the Biggest, Fastest and Coolest. Plus it was the CHEAPEST!

Having sailed one in recent years, it would have to be the Cherubini 48, if I was forced to accept a production craft. The 44 would do in a pinch. Since money isn't an issue, a full up custom, seems the reasonable thing to do.

When you are relatively short handed, larger is not better. Larger means you will have to bring additional people just so you can manage the boat properly. For a sailing couple, the vast majority do not have boats over 50 feet.

The fastest boat I have ever sailed was my old Hobie 18. Fast yes, but certainly not suitable for more than a day sail.


The coolest looking sailboat I have ever seen is the Maltese Falcon.
