Re: Thoughts on the "Gulet" for Blue Water sailing?

You can have a gullet specially built to endure harsher conditions but then the interior is going to be very different with less open spaces. On the marina I had my boat for doing some works I meet an Italian Captain of a Gullet and we become friends.

I saw in the Gullet some games of the world cup and we talked about the boat (not his. He is just a paid Captain): he said to me the first time he really sailed hard the boat things start to become bent. Doors did not open and so on. some more experienced Captain explained to him that those boats are meant to motorsail not for sail with a lot of wind that is the only way they can sail without the engine.

I am just telling you what he had told me. The boat was all in mahogany and beautiful. Not a new one but one very well taken care of.

I guess a 50ft modern oceanic cat is what you need.
