I'm not a huge fan of these boats, but that's just my personal (lack of) taste and preference.
If you like the boat and it fits your wants, needs & budget, it should be on your list.
Simple as that

They were still building them strong back then..
This century they seem to be going the way of Lancia, Hunter and a few others last century.. cutting quality and safety to dangerous levels in the name of profits and keeping the lines rolling..
They'll either change.. or go the way of Hunter and Bavaria.. another joke boat in the cruising world.

I like a good joke! Could you please elaborate on the reason why this is a joke boat? I do agree with you, but perhaps for different reasons?
Although there are quite a few Bavaria`s out there cruising, I have my doubts on the seakindness of these vessels. So what is your reason if I may ask?

OP: Go for it! Looks quite nice!

Re: Thoughts on liveaboard

I think a very nice live-aboard.

I think less than optimum blue water.

Re the comments about blue water. This may be a reference to things like water capacity, fuel capacity, galley design, air conditioning (an add on I know but ..), handholds down below etc.
We lived aboard a 1991 Hunter 43 which was comfortable enough in port and in lighter conditions but because of the lightness of build was lively in heavier weather/seas. This is where for example the layout below is important and for many an L shaped galley is essential.

Was anchored next to a 2001 Bavaria that had just been bought.. I was on a Bene same year also just purchased..
The Bavaria folk asked to have a look at my 331 and were gutted..
If someone was in the galley the aft cabin was inaccessible.. small galley to boot.. reportedly sailed like a pig.. which I thought unkind as though I could beat her she was not that bad.. personally I'm not to keen on the style.
They're a cheap way to enter the cruising world and are built as such.
Shame Bene seems to feel the need to compete as.. the recent spate of cut price rudder system failures for one

Re: Thoughts on liveaboard

I feel anyone tossing out a brand name as being bad instead of a specific model that they personally have experience with is just being a "T" word.

Nice boat for a couple, coastal cruising. I was looking (online) at a Beneteau Idylle 1050 the other day, like those aft head layouts.

Just a note, but that is a Canadian flagged boat and there maybe some import duties/taxes (was this boat made in US or France?) that could be expensive. Be sure to know these before you buy.

Re: Thoughts on liveaboard

most boats spend most time at anchor or in a marina. buy the boat for what you intend to use it for.

if you were at sea, what percentage of your hours on the boat would consist of blue water travel?

Re: Thoughts on liveaboard

We are looking to venture to the islands and beyond and not staying in Florida or coast for long . Will tuck away during hurricane season and such.
Yes tracking Canada and the 1.5 tax for reflagg.
