Thoughts on a 1979 O'Day 37 Center Cockpit as a World Cruiser ?

I have a friend of a friend of a friend who has a 1979 O'Day 37 center cockpit for sale at a deal.

Don't know much about O'Days, and I know every boat is different, but in general, are these boats world capable cruisers?

I used to own a 1978 O'Day 37 and I loved that boat. Didn't do any offshore cruising with it, but it was very capable coastal cruiser. It's not going to be as stable as a heavy, full-keeled vessel, but if equipped properly, I don't see why it couldn't do the job.

Went and looked at the boat. While not bad, I was not too impressed.

If I get a center cockpit, I want a walk through, not walk over.

The engine looked like it was a pain to get at. Fwd and rear access, but from the rear you had to crawl fwd into the engine space. But the engine had a fresh rebuild.

Had soft decks in the cabin, and a few soft spots up top.

Good boat, just not for me.

O'Days are Coastal Cruisers. While I am sure that someone has probably cruised the world on one, they were certainly not designed for it.
