I saw it sitting at the Kemah Boardwalk a couple months ago.

Looked about like she did at the beginning of the movie, minus the palm fronds ...

Who told you they only built 3? Those things are everywhere. Pretty sure the owners are members here. There's seventeen of them on Yachtworld for sale right now, they must have built at least a couple of hundred. Wouldn't be surprised if the number was much more.

The real money is in the sale of any eye patches left aboard.
Should be fun project.

Its on my dock. Be sure and say "hi" as you go by. If you hear a string of profanity in a Scottish accent coming from the salon of my boat, you will know that my husband is working on the plumbing...

I heard there were three Formosas used in the film; perhaps that's where the mention of that number comes from.

I'm pretty sure that's true. I too have heard it said that three boats were used in the film, one for the exterior shots, one on the hard for interior, and who knows for the third. Probably would have saved them a ton of money if they could block a boat at the studio instead of having to do the whole production dockside.

1 for sailing, 1 for interior and 1 for exterior...

Not sure I'd be brave enough to try on Captain Ron's eyepatch, you'd probably get pinkeye or worse, much worse!!!
I love how the Captain just switches eyes with the patch, recent "research" claims that this was the real reason pirates wore eyepatches, to preserve the night vision in one eye when going below to prick the chart. So you'd keep one eye covered above decks and the other below. Probably works better than red lights.
