The shape and dimensions vary a little between the boats of the same "number", but I think You will find Bestevaer 66 a boat up to Your personal taste, and very good basis for fulfilling Dockhead's dreams

Yeah, I knew... Wanted only to tease You a little...

I think You should sit and wait for the breakthrough in design...

Just think - one day somebody will find the way to make a scow shaped hull move well to windward not only in flat water. Sooner or later somebody will find the way, because the scow is the best possible monohull...

And the ideal cruiser will emerge....

In case you can't tell that is the bow you are looking at.

They are in fact now building a 60' version.

Yes, I know the boat and know about the new built for Transpac

Still, they are not real all rounders, built mainly for reaching conditions...

But they revived the concept, and I'm waiting for progress at this direction. Scow hull has a lot of advantages - smooth ride, huge internal volume, a lot of power and stability...

Not a problem with changing the bow arrangement, but tender storage (other than on davits) can be somewhat difficult to solve with this design

Anabel was a very unique boat with a lot of input from the owner.

The Davits were designed to be big enough for a dry engine exhaust. This exited from the top of the davits. The davits also supported telescoping dual wind generators that extended a long way up.

Personally I liked the anchor roller

There is really nothing standard on these boats.

Yea, I don't like the wind gens either.

Dry exhaust is interesting . . .with a 60' aluminum hull you should easily be able to include a 'hull cooler' so you don't have to bring raw water into the boat/engine.

I am guessing the owner is primarily a single hander, from the single seat in the pilot house? I love the chair, but would want two of them.

There was a lot of automation so I presume so.
Bestevaer II was more to my taste. This was Dykstra's own boat. Much simpler.

This was only 53 foot, but I am sure they would build a 66 foot version if you want.

There was one of the smaller ones in the bras de ore lakes this spring when I went thru. It looked like it had been left there for the winter - no-one on board. And when we were last down in Patagonia we had on board the guy who got hull 2 (or 1 . . . Built in parallel with Dykstra's boat), when it was still in the late design stage. Interesting talking to him, he was interested to look around hawk. I think the boat ended up being a lot more exoensive than he thought it was going to be.

The 53 is a damn nice boat.

Indeed, and I would have no incentive whatsoever to change boats if I just end up again with bloody davits!
