Would be relative to the "for little money" part of the original post.

probably because those with "new" boats believe they know what will become of the thread and just chose not to go there

besides based on past polls "new" here mostly means less than 20 years old

OK then this thread is all about blowing smoke b-cause as the dead wreckoning moves backwards in time, it's not the boat type, it's how it was maintained and how it was modified and the year and how that boat type ages and what it was designed to sail in and and blabla etc. There are too many other variables to say "Yes this boat manu/model is good boat for the money.

At least if we said NEW, 2016, we kill the vars.

Salty,
This is only true in a limited sense since there are huge differences in build-quality of boats and some boats even with modification would never be considered a serious boat since the hull and superstructure are built to recreational standards. Even with hull stabilization by bulkheads, stringers, etc., your end product will still be unsuitable for many situations. I do not want to mention certain manufacturers to avoid offending anyone, but most who know boats and have sailed for a while can think of boats that fall into this category. Good luck and safe sailing.

Albin Vega. Cheap to own and operate. Lots of support associations. A lot of boat for the buck.

Re: The Most Monohull Brand For the Least Money?

I don't know what your sailing plans are or how much boat you are looking for but Greg Nestor's 2007 book-Twenty Affordable Sailboats To Take You Anywhere is a pretty good place to start
