hmmm...a look at my numbers again:

D/L - 294...just inside the performance cruiser range
Capsize Screening - 1.82 which is reasonably good and below 2.
B/D - 40% which is good mix
SA/D - 16.66 good in light airs.

Are you still looking for an under 40 ft. center cockpit? Here's one in Mass. that needs work, but could be very cheap, and it's sort of a classic:

Hey speedo. Thanks for your effort. I have my eyes on all sorts of options at the moment - a terrible mix of different ideas - fiberglass to metal; racers to old heavy displacements; from 27 to 45 feet. Seems like a large spread, but there are specific models that I think are salient in each, and I've learned from these side tracks and questions via this thread. Just no decision on which one is right - there are so many. I hate the idea of being stuck with only one boat!

To keep from going crazy, I'm working on just actively pursuing skill sets that I can get my hands around until my fund are more exact - such as finally getting a HAM license, becoming more proficient at downloading and reading weather charts; understanding the radio frequency range worldwide; understanding associated electronic products; getting an understanding to software charts etc such as OpenCMS; learning welding; experimenting with fiberglass repair. Decided I should also focus on saving and itemizing exactly a cruising budget; then worry about boat budgets and specific boats since I cannot make up my mind!

I think Chris Craft made the Apache - an old and now inexpensive sailing boat that hmmmm looks like a lot of a cruiser for the asking.

Yes C+C's line is confusing to me. Catalina, Ericsson, Peterson, Cal also a bit strange to figure out what are good and what are junk.

I just bought a Fales Navigator and sailed from Maryland to Florida.
One of the most enjoyable voyages I have ever made!
I had not expected the vessel to perform as well as it did.
Liveability is great for two of us oldtimers!

Capt David - I'm really interested in what you experienced because by the looks, it appears to be rolly polly potential. It's a very interesting boat design, but I wonder how well it would to in Deep Blue Water.

As I mentioned she performed better than expected. I thought she would be VERY rolly polly but that was not the case. She will roll more than most of my previous boats but the only time it was uncomfortable was when a large Sea Ray overtook us when he was on a half plane with a tremendous short steep wake. This was on the ICW when we were under power with no sail up. Underway with sail up she handles well.
Our intended use is coastal cruising with winters in the Bahamas.
