Taleisin...

At risk of opening myself up to a flame war...

So I believe some of you may be familiar with Taleisin, love her or hate her...

Along with my wonderful better half we are the care takers of this lovely little vessel. I was wondering if there's an audience out there who would be interested in videos of Taleisin and her new crew. I must warn you that we're new to sailing and we're still learning every time we're on board Taleisin. I realise there's probably quite a large contingent who might think we're absolutely crazy for having taken on a vessel like this and people are entitled to their opinions, just don't persecute us because of it!

If there's an audience we'd love to share some videos of our adventures and learning, but if nobody wants to see anymore of Taleisin that's fine too!

I just thought I'd test the waters to see if people still have an appetite for the old time boats and the crazy people who sail them.

Re: Taleisin...

sure go for it,
Its a boat with history--it will be interesting to watch her progress.
Maybe similar to WandererIII the Hiscock's boat now in new hands and still sailing. Or Sea Dart (kinda kidding but not really) Tristan Jones' boat now on the hard in Port Townsend.

Re: Taleisin...

I'm one of the lifelong fans of the Pardeys and both of their lovely boats. Good for you that you've taken on the responsibility and the joy of owning this beautiful classic.

Yes! I would like to see new videos although I'm not often in a place with good wifi.

Re: Taleisin...

Go for it..the Pardy's probably got more people interested in sailing than almost any other couple. Good luck with your new handbuilt boat!

Re: Taleisin...

Thank you!

We're certainly enjoying what she has to offer, she certainly attracts a lot of attention in the Marina!

Unfortunately it's winter in Auckland right now and favourable sailing conditions for the inexperienced are few and far between! Itching to get out onto the water and hate sitting in the office on relatively nice days!

I will certainly post some videos of how we're dealing with no engine. This is certainly our biggest challenge. Having said that we've never owned a boat before never mind have an engine so to us this is quite normal!

Before someone asks, no we're not going to put an engine in her! I've posted a link to a short video in the general sailing forum of us getting ready to sail the boat to the marina!
