Tack Volt & Amp Meters Die

This is continuing from last year. Some times my meters go dead. Volvo MD2030, with the Volvo isolator, to two battery banks. I have now checked alternator out put when this happens and it is very low 6 volts. I have now discovered the after the alarm sounds if I turn off the engine and restart everything is fine. This is not the case before the case before the alarm sounds. think there are three possible sources of this problem, a bad ground, bad isolator or bad alternator. Anyone had similar problem?
