Mine too, but I wanted to get rid of that steaming light that always seems to catch my halyard along with having less stuff up there. The wiring in my boat has all been stipped by me because it was a gaggled cluster of people adding things here and there through the years. I wanted to know every wire and I will since I'm running all of he wire. Nice and clean and simple.

The previous owner bought it and installed it. I'm way to cheap to buy that brand myself. It IS a thing of beauty, though, and works well. Looks to be very well made...too soon to tell about reliability. It also claims to be USCG certified (something you don't find on all led lights out there). My previous boat also had a combo light. I just converted the bulbs to led on that one (i said I was cheap).

I see Lopolight calls the model that I have only a power boat light...not for sail. Not sure why. Maybe cause they can't assume that the boat has a separate 135 degree stern light (which mine does).

Yes, what is enough vertical separation is described in the technical section for lights in the COLREG's. With it being in the COLREG's, this also makes it law in the US, and not just a good idea.

I don't believe anyone is contemplating using a tricolor light when under power. They're talking about having an all-around white at the masthead instead of a steaming light on the forward part of the mast and a separate stern light. This is a legal combination under power for boats under 12 meters:

i do not have masthead lights nor will i a si have seen the result of the anchor light in real anchorage situations. not on my boat as they are not visible against a towns ambient lighting. i go for the cockpit and lifeline level anchor lights--more effective in a crowded anchorage and with panga traffic.
i have seen a steaming/deck light that looks effective--mounted half up the mast--visible and practical
