Can you tell me if the Seaward 22 has a balsa core deck? I'm looking at a pretty nice one (1988) and wondered what issues they may have. Thanks.

I am also considering buying one. I want to trailer it with a van that has a weight limit of 3500lbs. Is this boat going to be too heavy?

Check sailboatdata.com for the Sovereign's displacement. I imagine it's about 3500 pounds or north of that. If your van has an eight cylinder I'm thinking you'd be OK, but check with manufacturer. I opted not to buy the Sovereign (my waterway has some very shallow spots, decided to go with a Seaward 22 which I really like, 1000+ pounds lighter, trailers easily behind a standard pickup truck). But otherwise I thought the Sovereign was terrific, but a little slow (so is the Seaward). It's sailing after all.
