Hannes Lindemann maybe? He made two crossings in a dugout canoe and 17ft folding kayak.

I just skimmed the book this mornings and read Manry used plastic bags. Still your memories sound familiar. Here is a website that lists the small boat trips taken. Maybe it will trigger a memory.

Lunatics.

your talking circumnavigate correct?
If so that's not entirely correct. Web Chiles did it as well on a Drascombe Lugger,

It is a very good read.

You sure he did? I mean, proper?

Te other guy - that was not a proper open boat. Was it?

Maybe the only challenge left in sailing then? ;-)

OK, at what point are you trying to "sail" a buoy vs. a "boat?"

3000 mi in 34 days, from SD to Marquesas in a Drascombe Lugger? Anyone else find that very impressive?

Re: Some of the smallest boats to cross The Atlantic.

Itís impressive being out in the open sea in such a simple boat, but after reading some of these stories itís definitely possible. Makes me wonder why people find it hard to believe that cocaine was found in Egyptian mummies.

My personal favorite is this one. Got to be the smallest powered boat to cross the Atlantic by displacement.
