Gulets are usually built to spec, if you want a cheap one they'll build you a cheap one, if you want a gold plated one that's what they'll build.
Here are couple of pics that show that they are not all built of pine.

These are planks of Burmese teak, they will outlast you and most boats on the water, they will also cost an arm and a leg.



This is a boat planked with the same material, not a cheap boat by any measure.



Gulets were built for coastal sailing, they were not built for deep sea sailing. Currently almost all of them are built for coastal charter work in Turkey and Greece, they are purpose built for that role. I don't think I would buy a coastal cruiser for a trans-Atlantic trip.

Wow Efraim...thanks for the great pictures...that boat in teak probably cost more than building in Monel.......but man-o-man what a beauty!
